‘Tis the season for citrus fruit, purchased or received as gifts over the holidays but not personally harvested unless you’re lucky enough to know someone from California (or Florida) who comes a-knocking with a much-welcomed basket of fruit from her backyard. When the wind is whipping and howling and the temperature is plummeting, nothing’s more refreshing than citrus, sweet or tart. No sunshine, so we might as well have the fruit that sunshine produced. Obviously from the photo, we have a lot of citrus fruit on hand (sorry, the limes are hiding in the fridge). So we’ll be eating some and also preserving some all month for the dark days ahead.
