March: Anticipation

As March “comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb,” it makes the transition of the dark days of winter to the promise of new beginning in the spring. While the vernal equinox may technically represent the start of a new season, we will still be housebound, itching to jump out into the garden to get it ready for a spring crop. Planting peas on St. Patrick’s Day seems impossible at the moment but it’s time to plan the garden, clean out the pots, order the seeds and anticipate the turn of the weather. Daylight savings time starts mid-month, so everything will seem brighter and cheerier soon.
